Today we welcome our newest Chief Judge to the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court, The Honorable Lisa T. Munyon. Chief Judge Munyon is the 17th Chief Judge of the circuit but, more importantly, she is also the first female to hold the position.

Governor Jeb Bush appointed Chief Judge Munyon to the circuit bench in 2003. She started out on a county criminal assignment, but presided over a variety of other divisions over the years. Since 2012, she has been chair of the Florida Courts Technology Commission where she contributed to making court records available via the internet while still protecting confidential information and, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, she was appointed to chair of the Workgroup on the Continuity of Court Operations and Proceedings During and After COVID-19.

Chief Judge Munyon consistently shows the courts and her community what dedicated professionalism and leadership look like from a judge. She recently received both the Florida Association of Women Lawyers' Jurist of the Year award and the James G. Glazebrook Memorial Bar Service Award for unfailingly representing these qualities in her service.

We are excited to welcome Chief Judge Lisa Munyon to her new position in the circuit and encourage you to join us in congratulating her as she steps into this role.
