Position description

This is a non-advocate, professional, full-time position responsible for developing processes and procedures for the supervision of the County Mediation Program within the Dispute Resolution Services Department.

The role involves performing a variety of complex and specialized functions, including but not limited to: training and supervising staff, interns, and contract mediators; developing, planning, and coordinating continuing education for mediators; collecting, processing, and reporting data; overseeing law school mentorship programs and students; and ensuring compliance with all applicable statutes and policies. This includes the development and modification of pleadings in accordance with statutory provisions and rules of procedure.

This position requires a high volume of customer service and interaction with the public, court programs, judiciary, and mediators. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office and database applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Education 

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required, preferably in sociology, communications, criminal justice, conflict resolution, or a related social science field. In addition, at least one year of experience in a mediation program is required. Relevant experience in a Family Court Program, Family Court Services, or a related social service or court-related program may substitute for the recommended education on a year-for-year basis.

Work experience or general knowledge of the Florida court system is preferred. The selected candidate will also be required to obtain certification to conduct county, family, and dependency mediations.
