Court Program Specialist

Position description

This position is responsible for assisting victims of domestic violence, and their families, as they proceed through the criminal justice system, particularly when seeking assistance in obtaining an order for protection against violence. Provide assistance during the pre and post injunction for protection hearings through the active and daily case management of said cases. Provide follow-up services, information and referrals for services and provide assistance on victim compensation, as needed. Extensive contact is maintained with local law enforcement agencies, Office of the State Attorney, and a variety of social service agencies.

Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated, but also work closely with others, and must exercise discretion in dealing with confidential and extremely sensitive issues. Knowledge of the operations of the Florida State Courts System, dynamics of victimization issues and child development. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in sociology, social work, psychology, child development, education, communications, or a related social science field, and one year of experience in a social service or counseling program. Progressively responsible experience in victim’s issues, or related social service delivery program may substitute for the recommended education on a year-for-year basis. Bilingual: English/Spanish is a plus. Must be able to work after regular business hours, as needed.

Salary: $15.56 per hour/40 hours per week with benefits. Osceola County funded through VOCA Grant. Position is scheduled to terminate September 30, 2021.
