The Spanish Interpreter position for Circuit & County Courts will assist for first appearances, arraignments, preliminary hearings, trials & court proceedings. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required. Must read and write both Spanish and English language with proficiency. Must be able to work in a high stress environment and independently. Knowledge of the court system is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in English, the source language, or any closely related field. Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis. Plus two years of court/legal related experience. Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis. The work locations for this position will include both Orange and Osceola Counties, although the interpreter will be stationed in Osceola, they should be prepared to cover assignments in both counties and multiple locations i.e. outlying courts, juvenile, jail, etc. Therefore, candidate must be able and willing to travel to both counties. Must complete a State of Florida orientation program and obtain state certification within one year of being employed in the class of Court Interpreter. Passing of the Federal Certification oral exam can substitute for passing of Consortium exam. This is a State funded position with benefits. Salary: *$4,583.34/monthly for Court Interpreters who are certified or $4,125.00/monthly who are not certified (10% below minimum $4,583.34/monthly). *Certified by the Court Interpreter Certification and Regulation Program (CICRP) of the Office of the State Courts Administrator (OSCA). Certified Court Interpreters are eligible for a Certified Court Interpreter Incentive Plan. After completing 2 years of certified interpreter services within the State Courts System, they are eligible to receive a one-time incentive increase in annual salary, up to $2,500 (potential salary increase at the beginning of Year-3, only.) After completing 5 years of certified interpreter services within the State Courts System, they are eligible to receive a one-time incentive increase in annual salary, up to $2,500 (potential salary increase at the beginning of Year-6, only.)
