Media Policies & Procedures
Orange County Jail, Booking & Release Center
Audio and video feeds from the courtrooms at the Orange County Jail's Booking and Release Center (BRC), are available to the media via a media pedestal located in front of the BRC facility. Representatives of the media, with proper credentials and identification, may check out a key from the BRC lobby for access to the pedestal. Video cameras are not permitted in BRC courtrooms. Video at the pedestal is provided from a fixed camera in each courtroom. Audio is provided at line level audio from courtroom microphones. Video and audio signals from these courtrooms are also available at the downtown courthouse pedestal and media room. There is no designated parking for media at the BRC so parking is on a “first come” basis.
All media representatives with proper credentials and identification have access to courtroom galleries to witness proceedings. One still camera and one audio recording device is permitted into the gallery areas to serve as pool coverage for print and radio. A single line level audio output is available in the courtroom galleries.
Everyone entering the facility will be scanned for security purposes. Pocket knives, nail files, letter openers, and the like are not permitted in the facility. Members of the media are permitted to carry cellular telephones, pagers and electronic calendaring devices into the public areas of the courtroom.
For issues regarding signal routing or quality, contact the On-call A/V Engineer and leave a message. The engineer will be paged immediately.
