Injunction Processing Unit
The Injunction Processing Unit, formerly known as the Victim Assistance Program, provides assistance to all victims of crime, including but not limited to, victims of domestic violence, as they proceed through the criminal justice system, particularly with the injunction for protection process. It is funded by the Osceola Clerk of the Court and managed by Court Administration. It is a walk-in service; no appointment, referrals or legal representation is required. Regular business hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, an on-call staff member is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, via pager.
In 2006, the Injunction Processing Unit was able to serve 5,874 litigants seeking information about protection orders and/or returning for additional services. The Unit assisted 1,849 litigants file petitions for orders for protection and 110 of those litigants were assisted after business hours, weekends and/or holidays. In addition, the Unit provided over 8,400 referrals and information regarding additional community resources.
