Judge Adams and Judge Plogstedt Investiture
January 30, 2001
Friday, February 2, 2001, 4:00 p.m.
Jury Assembly Room, Orange County Courthouse
Each time a Judge takes office a ceremony of conferring the authority and symbol of the high office is held. During an investiture of a judge, he or she is formally sworn into the office of County or Circuit Judge. It is a tradition that after being sworn in, members of the Judge’s family will "enrobe" him or her. The enrobing symbolizes the Judge officially taking office.
On Friday, February 2, 2001, Judge Gail A. Adams and Judge Antoinette D. Plogstedt will be "invested" formally into office. The ceremony begins at 4:00 p.m. in the Jury Assembly Room of the Orange County Courthouse, 425 North Orange Avenue, in downtown Orlando.
In Friday’s ceremony, Gail A. Adams will be sworn in as a State Circuit Judge by the Honorable Major B. Harding, Florida Supreme Court Justice. Enrobing her will be her husband and her son. Judge Adams took office on January 2, 2001. She graduated with a bachelors degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Central Florida in 1976. She received her Juris Doctor from Stetson College of Law in 1980. Chief Judge Ted Coleman has assigned Judge Adams to hear domestic cases in Orange County.
Antoinette D. Plogstedt will be sworn in as an Orange County Judge by the Honorable Emerson R. Thompson, Jr., Chief Judge, Fifth District Court of Appeal. Enrobing her will be her husband and one of her daughters. She graduated cum laude from the University of Tampa where she majored in Marketing with a minor in Business Administration. Her Juris Doctor is from the University of Florida. Judge Plogstedt has been assigned to hear traffic matters.
Chief Judge Ted Coleman stated, "Judges Adams and Plogstedt have jumped into their Judicial roles with great enthusiasm and are going to be great Judges. The Ninth Judicial Circuit is fortunate to have people of this caliber on the bench."
