Position description

The Staff Attorney position’s essential function is to assist the judge assigned to the Complex Business Litigation Court with case management, review of all pending litigation and motions, legal research, preparation of proposed orders and other tasks associated with the Complex Business Litigation Court. The successful applicant must have the following: Exceptional analytical skill, excellent writing ability, good organizational and multi-tasking capabilities, and the ability to work independently.
The position requires knowledge of legal principles, statutory and case law, court rules and procedures, as well as, the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to work behind the scenes, as work in the courtroom is extremely limited.
Salary $45,817.20 per year. Salary is 10% below minimum ($41,235.48 per year) if the individual is not a member of the Florida Bar. Membership in the Florida Bar must be attained within one year from the date of hire. Applicants must possess the following: Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. Must be proficient in Word and Westlaw. 40/hrs. per week. State funded position with benefits. A cover letter, resume, State of Florida application with verification of required education, and two writing samples required.
